Planning for the future

The traditional skills which have helped build our reputation for quality fabrication have been sustained through our engineering apprenticeships programme, which was established in the 1970s and has recruited new entrants every year since. We currently partner with Pembrokeshire College and the ECITB in helping to develop young learners and continue to offer work placements and welding, fabricating and pipefitting apprenticeship opportunities to students annually.

Retention of our apprentices is high and we are very proud that a significant number of our workforce has come through our own apprenticeship scheme – currently almost 90% of our workshop trades personnel and over 40% of management and staff having served their apprenticeships at Jenkins & Davies Engineering.

Equality and diversity statement

Jenkins & Davies Engineering believes in helping build a better working world, which includes conducting our business to the highest possible ethical standards. At the heart of any equality and diversity statement lies the commitment to creating a workplace, community, or society where every person has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed

Jenkins & Davies Engineering is committed to promoting positive measures that eliminate all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination on the grounds of age, marriage and civil partnership, sex, disability, race, religion/belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment and identity and pregnancy/maternity or any other factor not included in the nine protected characteristics described under The Equality Act 2010 or relevant to the requirements of the position. Jenkins & Davies Engineering values the unique perspective and creativity that neurodivergence brings to the workplace and this commitment extends to embracing its characteristics.

We will ensure that this policy is applied fairly to all employees regardless of the afore mentioned protected characteristics, whether full or part time or employed under a permanent or a fixed term contract or any other irrelevant factor. Our recruitment and selection policy reflects this commitment in ensuring equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusivity in the workplace.

Jenkins & Davies Engineering core values include a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to discrimination.  Prejudice and discrimination in any of its forms is not permitted and will not be accepted or tolerated under any circumstance. Jenkins & Davies Engineering reserves the right to terminate the contract of an employee should they engage in behaviour which breaches our company’s core values. Further detail can be found in the business management system violence and discrimination policy.

Embracing diversity enriches our experiences by bringing a variety of perspectives, ideas, and talents to the forefront.  At Jenkins & Davies Engineering, we appreciate the varied and unique qualities that our workforce and colleagues bring.  Harnessing the benefits from differing skills, knowledge, and experiences helps enable us to deliver an exceptional service to customers. Jenkins & Davies Engineering is committed to promoting equality and diversity best practice both within the workforce and in any other area where we have influence.

Jenkins & Davies Engineering are committed to fostering a work environment that is free from discrimination and promotes respect for all employees. Embracing equality and diversity is not just a moral imperative but also a practical necessity for building a resourceful, resilient and thriving workplace.

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy Statement

Jenkins & Davies Engineering firmly believe that every individual has the right to be free from exploitation and abuse, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our operations and supply chains reflect this belief. As part of this commitment, we will not tolerate any form of human rights abuse, including modern slavery or human trafficking, in any part of our business.

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. To satisfy this commitment, we undertake a range of different steps and continue to strive to achieve the highest legal, ethical, environmental, and employee-related standards within our own business and supply chains, making sure that all stakeholders (including employees, partners, and suppliers) stand firm against modern slavery and human trafficking.

We will take all possible measure to ensure that Jenkins & Davies and our suppliers, sub-contractors and partners:

  • Refrain from using child, slave, prisoner or any other form of forced or involuntary labour, and, where applicable, comply in all respects with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Refrain from engaging in abusive employment or corruption or bribery.
  • Avoid any form of discrimination within its company or towards its suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Act with respect for the environment in product design, manufacture, use, disposal and recyclability.
  • Perform our work in accordance with ethical trading practices and the ethics policies.

As an equal opportunities’ employer, we are committed to creating and ensuring a non-discriminatory and respectful working environment for our staff. We want all our staff to feel confident that they can expose wrongdoing without any risk to themselves. We encourage all employees, customers and suppliers to report any suspicion of slavery or human trafficking without fear of reprisal.
